A Message from APC President

APC has had an incredible year so far and I would like to take this moment to share with all of you some of our latest accomplishments that can attest to the overall health of your professional association.  In recent months APC has worked closely with our NACC colleagues to bring our members together for the 2018 APC/NACC Joint Conference in Anaheim, California and it was an amazing success.  Our two groups brought more than 800 of our colleagues together to learn, share and collaborate.  The enthusiasm in the air was palpable and the feedback that our board members and our staffs heard reflected the excitement I personally felt.

Strategic Partners for Spiritual Care Issue a Memorandum of Understanding

APC Issues Policy Clarification to Acceptable CPE

The APC Board of Directors in conjunction with the BCCI Commission on Certification have approved the following policy regarding acceptable Clinical Pastoral Education needed for applicants for Board Certification.  This policy is a clarification and does not change the associations policy for CPE but rather outlines and codifies it.  It is the aim of APC/BCCI to require our candidates for certification to have received quality, uniform Clinical Pastoral Education from institutions that are approved by the Code of Federal Regulations in order to ensure our candidates meet the highest standards for the profession and to place their education on par with their colleagues...Read More

Association of Professional Chaplains and Transforming Chaplaincy Launch Grant Program

The Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) and Transforming Chaplaincy recognize the central role of research in advancing the profession of health care chaplaincy. Advancing chaplaincy research requires multiple initiatives. An important next initiative is to support chaplains who are interested in doing research related to their work. To help advance research, APC and Transforming Chaplaincy are pleased to announce pilot grants for chaplaincy research. Two types of grants are available: a consultation grant and a pilot project grant. One grant of each type will be awarded in 2018. Learn More

2018 APC/NACC Joint Conference Highlights

From July 12-15th this year, APC members and guests gathered with members of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains in Anaheim, CA for the 2018 Joint Conference.  This year’s conference was an incredible experience for those that were able to attend.  Those present often commented on how enjoyable it was to learn and celebrate their profession with members of NACC and APC together. The Joint Conference Planning Committee was made up of members and staff from both organizations and their collaboration and thoughtfulness could be seen at every level of the conference.

Announcing the 2018 Fall Chaplain Symposium - Spiritual Assessment: From Theory to Practice
Hosted by the Association of Professional Chaplains® (APC®), all chaplains and spiritual caregivers are invited to the symposium, which will be presented to a live audience in Hoffman Estates, IL, while simultaneously viewed by a remote audience via Internet on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Discounted Early Bird registration is now open. 

This year's symposium features four leading experts who will delve into issues and provide solutions in their 90-minute sessions around the theme of "Spiritual Assessment: From Theory to Practice."

Reminder - APC's Fiscal Year Begins November 1, 2018

While many of us are enjoying our remaining weeks of summer, the APC is starting to prepare for our annual dues cycle which is slated to begin in mid September of 2018.  That's right, in a little over one month, the APC office will begin to issue annual dues renewal invoices as well as BCCI Fee invoices.  APC members do not need to take any action now, but please keep an eye out for upcoming emails related to your APC membership...Read More 


APC Announces 2019 Conference Theme and Dates

The 2019 APC Annual Conference will be held June 20-23, 2019 in Orlando, Florida.  The Conference theme is "Outside the Lines: Expanding Boundaries" with the conference objectives being to inform and educate attendees on how to best utilize and expand the role of chaplains in the following spheres: Self Care, Client Care, Institutional Care, and Community Care.  More information will be available shortly on the APC 2019 Conference webpage.
