President’s Message
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year to each and every one of you!  As we are all undoubtedly consumed with work and projects and loved ones during this busy festive time of year, I will keep my remarks short.  In the midst of all the savory and sweet snacks, pretty lights and decorations, I would like to encourage each of you to take moments during the course of your day to find your calm center and reflect on what the season and this year has meant to you.  Every year this beautiful and difficult world we live in seems to get a little smaller and, every year the time we share seems to go a little faster.  Appreciate your accomplishments, find forgiveness for those that have wronged you, and bring comfort to those that you can.

2017 has been an incredible journey for the APC; the National Office went through a strategic realignment of personnel, we held 2 Symposiums (one jointly with our Strategic Partners), we had another successful Annual  Conference in Houston, TX and, we conducted an important Membership Satisfaction Survey to better understand and meet the needs of our members.  These are significant achievements and ones that I do not wish to gloss over.  The APC board and staff are passionate about providing our members with the very best education, information and service that we can!

Each of you has your own challenges AND achievements from 2017.  Reflect on them, learn from them and share them with others so that they can benefit from them as well.  I often use this time of year to reflect on how each of us are greater than the sum of our parts because we share our lives with others and they share their lives with us.  Thank you for sharing part of yourself with your APC family, we are better because of it!

The Reverend Martha H. Rucker is a staff chaplain for Saint Thomas Health, Nashville, TN. Endorsed by the Disiples of Chirst, she serves as president of APC.
