Overview
Staying connected and fostering joy within our chaplaincy and interprofessional teams is more important than ever during this COVID-19 pandemic. Group Expressive Writing for 30 minutes is a method that can help you facilitate this possibility with your co-workers. Chaplains have all the skills needed to develop and lead group expressive writing sessions. With their five years of experience in facilitating these groups, Paul and Michael will share what's worked and what hasn't. We'll also talk about the nuts and bolts of getting a group started and how to facilitate it.
Learning Objectives
  • Experience a narrative practice group session.
  • Glean hard won ‘how-to’ knowledge about how to put your group together with details about group administration, formation, participant orientation, prompts selected, and programmatic pearls.
  • Easily understand how this means of staff support confidently fits in chaplaincy scope of practice.

Presenters
Paul Galchutt, MPH, MDiv, BCC: Paul is the research staff chaplain for M Health Fairview. He also serves as the convener for the Hospice-Palliative Spiritual Care Research Network with Transforming Chaplaincy. Among his professional experiences, he has been an inpatient palliative care chaplain for ten years, a bereavement coordinator and a congregational pastor for seven years.
 



Michael Finch, CNP: Michael is a nurse practitioner serving as the lead advanced practice provider with the inpatient palliative consult service at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC). Michael has served in several roles throughout his career including serving as the lead Advanced Practice Provider hospitalist at UMMC as well as holding other administrative and clinical roles in long term care as well as flight nursing. 


How It Works
To participate, all that is needed is a computer with Internet access and speakers, as the presentation audio and visuals are "webcast." Our webinars are priced per computer terminal, not per participant. That means you can invite as many colleagues to join you as can fit in your conference room or cluster around your computer. As a participant, you will be able to interact with the presenters, who will ask questions of the audience and answer questions posed by participants.
 
System Requirements
• As a best practice, we highly recommend an Ethernet connected computer for best connectivity and listening experience. You may experience some buffering of audio on lower bandwidth wireless connections.
• Internet Browsers:  Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or later, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Windows Edge browser.
• Stable Internet Connection, DSL or above:  100kbps for video transmission, 300kbps for screen sharing and remote control, 500kbps to ensure fluidity of all services.
• Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Mac OS X v10.4 or higher, Linux, Solaris.

The "Connectivity" line should have a green check mark. If it does not please contact your network administrator to allow TelSpanWeb access to port RTMPE 1935. This will allow your Adobe Flash Player to run properly through TelSpanWeb. "Application Sharing" applies only to presenters, so if you see a red "X," that's OK.

Confirmation
You will receive an e-mail confirmation upon completion of the online registration and payment process. Instructions for logging into the webinar will be e-mailed to all participants two business days before the event.
 
Cancellation Policy
The registration fee (minus a $20 nonrefundable processing charge) will be refunded up to five (5) business days of the scheduled event. APC® reserves the right to cancel the program within five (5) business days of the scheduled event, if an insufficient number of people register. In case of APC cancellation, all registration fees will be refunded.
