The board certified chaplain (BCC) credential is the gold standard in professional chaplaincy, valued by chaplains and employers. Certification standards are high and applying requires more than a simple online form. This webinar will provide live instruction as a valuable supplement to the information provided on the BCCI website,bcci.professionalchaplains.org.

The instructors will help participants understand the board certification standards and how candidates can plan ahead to meet them. With a little forethought and some key information, the process of becoming a BCCI certified chaplain can be transformed from a source of anxiety to a professional milestone achieved.

Participants are strongly encouraged to review the materials on the BCCI website prior to the webinar, as the presentation will assume a basic level of familiarity with this information.

This webinar will explain the requirements for certification as a board certified chaplain, as well as the requirements for the associate certified chaplain designation.

Learning Objectives
1. Become familiar with the Common Standards for Professional Chaplaincy and the CPE Crosswalk.
2. Common mistakes that prevent applicants from meeting board certification standards and how to avoid them.
3. Helpful hints to make the board certification process go smoothly.
4. General guidelines for requesting a theological, CPE or work experience equivalency. (An "equivalency" indicates a form of education or training that varies from the usual route but complies with national standards.)
