The purpose of this webinar is to build confidence, to encourage and to empower board certified chaplains to serve on BCCI certification committees. Those who have served have shared that the experience is both personally and professionally rewarding, with the opportunity to reconnect with their own competency, welcome and support new colleagues and shape the future of the profession.

Yet, there can be fear or anxiety around serving on certification committees. This arises from undefined or misperceived expectations, responsibilities and outcomes. In this webinar, we will seek to remove these obstacles, and offer practical and achievable expectations, as well as suggestions for how to be a valued member of the certification committee.

We will introduce you to what it means to be on a certification committee and look in-depth at the real expectations and responsibilities that go along with every committee role. You will gain a greater understanding of what to expect before the committee meeting, what resources you as a committee member will have and what to expect on the day of the committee.

Learning Objectives

As a result of this educational opportunity, participants will be able to:

1. List the expectations for serving on certification committees

2. Describe the roles of those serving on committees - chair, presenter and member

3. Know what to expect from your BCCI area certification chair
