Commissions fulfill numerous responsibilities of the association and, while they are accountable to the board, they act with autonomy as needed to carry out their assigned duties and responsibilities. Membership on the commissions includes a chairperson elected by the membership, who also serves on the board of directors. Additional members are appointed by the president in consultation with the commission chairperson and chairperson of the Nominating Committee. Occasional task forces may be appointed to assist in carrying out special tasks of the commissions.
