The Cabinet of Liaisons was formed in 1998 when the College of Chaplains merged with the Association of Mental Health Clergy to form the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC). The cabinet fosters collaborative relationships between the Association of Professional Chaplains and key human services organizations in the United States. APC members serving on the cabinet fulfill critical roles as liaisons to these organizations.

The goals of the cabinet are:

• Increase the perceived value of attending to the spiritual dimension as essential to healing, coping, seeking wellness and dealing with the limitations of life.
  
  
• Provide professional resources for consciously integrating spiritual care into the mission, programming and business of liaison organizations.
  
  
• Demonstrate the value of working with and utilizing the services of board certified chaplains.
