Thanks to generous benefactors, the Association of Professional Chaplains has access to funds for designated purposes, such as education and research, to advance the field of spiritual care. Clarke and Sharon Mundhenke Endowment Fund This fund was established by Clarke and Sharon Mundhenke in 2007. The purpose of this endowment is “to financially support the Association of Professional Chaplains mission and programs with a preference for supporting the speaker for the Anton Boisen and Russell Dicks Memorial Lecture.” The distributed income from the initial funding of this endowment and gifts of other donors to the endowment shall be used for this purpose. Charles and Shirley Phillips Endowed Lecture This fund was established by Charles and Shirley Phillips in 2000. The APC agreement with the Phillips family states: “The Donors intend that the income earned by their gifts and gifts of other donors to the Endowment are to be used to defray the costs of a key speaker chosen by the association to lecture at each Annual Conference arranged through the association to motivate its members to achieve excellence in the personal and spiritual skills required of them in their ministries. This lecture shall be hereafter known and publicized by the association as the ‘Charles and Shirley Phillips Endowed Lecture.’” Obert Kempsen Fund This fund was carried over to APC from the Association of Mental Health Clergy. Its purpose is “to foster research and development projects.”
