I'm interested in a career switch from church ministry to hospital chaplaincy. Can anyone share their experience in finding work? I looked on the job postings and did not find a great number of positions. How hard is it to break into full or part-time work?

The answer is many faceted and the following observations are only a few.

Finding work is difficult for a number of reasons.

First, most employers seeking chaplains want CPE trained people.
Secondly, most employers want chaplains certified by a national organizat such as APC or NACC.
Third, there are more CPE graduates each year than positions available and
Fourth, the economy is reflecting less opening for non revenue producing departments than in previous years.

It is difficult to find work as reflected by the reduced number of openings posted on many job/ websites.

Greetings!

I'm interested in a career switch from church ministry to hospital chaplaincy. Can anyone share their experience in finding work? I looked on the job postings and did not find a great number of positions. How hard is it to break into full or part-time work?
