Local Leadership

To effectively serve our members, we strive to adequately position leaders throughout the states and geographic areas we serve. These local leaders offer valuable support to our association as they provide helpful guidance for both APC® members and persons seeking information:

State Representatives promote the Association of Professional Chaplains. They recruit, retain and support the APC membership in their states and advocate for the chaplaincy profession. Upon request, they help find a mentor for a certification candidate in the state. They also support local chaplains in fulfilling their maintenance of BCCI® certification requirements, including annual continuing education reporting and five-year peer review. Additionally, they assist state continuing education chairs and local members in coordinating local meetings, educational opportunities and/or social events.

State Continuing Education Chairs are responsible for coordinating local meetings, educational opportunities, and/or social events with the support of the state representative and local membership. They also disseminate news of local and national education and events to the local membership.

BCCI Area Certification Chairs function on behalf of APC’s affiliate, the Board of Chaplaincy Certification Inc.®, to facilitate the process of certifying candidates or reviewing applicants in accordance with the APC Standards & Procedures for Certification and Review.

Our goal is to assure a network of leaders who represent the diversity of our membership and are equipped with the resources to effectively serve our members.

Current APC members can find listings of local leaders by logging into the APC website to get to their Profile page and then and selecting "My Groups" from the menu. State leader rosters can be found under the Chapter heading.

Local leaders are kept abreast of important association information through a quarterly newsletter, the Leaders Link. In addition, they attend networking and training sessions held each year at our annual conference. For members interested in serving as a local leader, position descriptions for each leadership role are available outlining the duties of each position.
