Seattle Cancer Care Alliance

APC® Corporate Partner

Seattle Cancer Care Alliance
, Seattle, WA unites the doctors from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, UW Medicine, and Seattle Children's to form a world-class treatment center that provides advanced therapies and clinical studies for cancers and other blood disorders.

SCCA’s purposes are to provide premier, patient-focused cancer care; support the conduct of cancer clinical research and education; enhance access to improved cancer interventions; and advance the standard of cancer care, regionally and beyond.

A major focus of SCCA is to speed up the transfer of new diagnostic and treatment techniques from the research setting to patient care. The highly integrated approach to cancer research and treatment among SCCA partner organizations supports the flow of scientific information among researchers, clinicians, and patients, thereby accelerating the development of new knowledge and treatment of various cancers.

Pastoral Care Services

The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance department of pastoral care provides chaplaincy care (i.e. spiritual and religious care) that is outcomes-oriented, research-informed and relationally grounded. Because of the needs of our patients and families, we focus much of our chaplaincy care within outpatient services. Given the intensity of our context, the department provides both proactive and responsive care, and programming for our healthcare staff. Because SCCA is a national and international leader in cancer care, we have a rich context in which to offer a yearlong fellowship in oncology chaplaincy for certification-eligible or board certified chaplains. To extend our services beyond the walls of SCCA, chaplains write for publications, lead workshops and participate in leadership roles within APC.
