Many hospitals are multicultural and multi-religious.  One particular concern is the challenge to provide spiritual care to men and women of all cultural and faith traditions.  Individuals of all faiths and non-faiths sit in the bed or at bedside with suffering beyond the physical.  Serious illness and even impending death, often provokes the pain of the inability to forgive. Hospital chaplains often encounter individuals from all religions who grapple with the inability to forgive themselves or others.  This workshop will offer chaplains the opportunity to explore and better understand a multicultural and multi-religious view of forgiveness.
Learning Objectives
  • Develop a sensitivity to multi-religious views of forgiveness
  • Understand the differences and similarities of different cultural and religious traditions
  • Grow in the ability to respond to various views of forgiveness outside of their own tradition.
Please Register by Tuesday, August 13, 2019

Olive B. Poliks, LPC, NBCC, Ed.D, MA, M.Div., and MA  in Jewish Studies (MAJS, Spertus Institute, 2021).  Olive is the Director of the Olive Branch of Stress Management and Conflict Mediation, and a chaplain at Edward Hospital (Naperville, IL).
Author of three books and many articles on the topic of stress, she has received many awards and grants for her work in counseling; prevention, and helping individuals and teams deal with stress, individually and collectively. As a professional speaker, she often serves as a presenter at local and statewide conferences on the wide-ranging topics of stress, mediation and Spiritual Care including grief and forgiveness, with reverence for a multicultural /multireligious view.
How It Works
To participate, all that is needed is a computer with Internet access and speakers, as the presentation audio and visuals are "webcast." Our webinars are priced per computer terminal, not per participant. That means you can invite as many colleagues to join you as can fit in your conference room or cluster around your computer. As a participant, you will be able to interact with the presenters, who will ask questions of the audience and answer questions posed by participants.
System Requirements
• As a best practice, we highly recommend an Ethernet connected computer for best connectivity and listening experience. You may experience some buffering of audio on lower bandwidth wireless connections.
• Internet Browsers:  Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or later, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Windows Edge browser.
• Stable Internet Connection, DSL or above:  100kbps for video transmission, 300kbps for screen sharing and remote control, 500kbps to ensure fluidity of all services.
• Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Mac OS X v10.4 or higher, Linux, Solaris.
• Adobe Flash Player 13.0 or newer:
• Computer Speakers
The link below will test your system to make sure you are running the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player and to make sure it is not being blocked by your network.
The "Connectivity" line should have a green check mark. If it does not please contact your network administrator to allow TelSpanWeb access to port RTMPE 1935. This will allow your Adobe Flash Player to run properly through TelSpanWeb. "Application Sharing" applies only to presenters, so if you see a red "X," that's OK.
If you have any further questions or concerns, or if you do not have computer speakers, please contact APC at for assistance.
You will receive an e-mail confirmation upon completion of the online registration and payment process. Instructions for logging into the webinar will be e-mailed to all participants two business days before the event.
Cancellation Policy
The registration fee (minus a $20 nonrefundable processing charge) will be refunded up to five (5) business days of the scheduled event. APC® reserves the right to cancel the program within five (5) business days of the scheduled event, if an insufficient number of people register. In case of APC cancellation, all registration fees will be refunded.
