This webinar is designed to help participants consider the emotional and physical toll of serving as a chaplain by way of including research findings.  In addition to infusing research to help convey the impact serving as a chaplain may have on an individual.  This webinar will include activities that will help participants implement or enhance a healthy work/life/play balance.  This group is designed to help participants avoid burnout (bitterness) which drives many clergy serving as chaplains and other ministerial servants to abandon their call to servanthood.  The goal is to help chaplains find wholesome ways to implement a healthy work/life/play balance to remain a viable source of support for colleagues, patients, family members, and self.
Learning Objectives
  • Assess their need for work/life balance.
  • Identify people and resources to help them maintain work/life balance.
Please Register by Friday, October 26, 2018

Registration by the published deadline is required to ensure that participants receive handouts, login information and pre-reading materials, if any, in sufficient time before the webinar.
Roberta Sonsaray White MDiv, is a staff chaplain at Vitas Healthcare and Sibley Memorial Hospital/Johns Hopkins Medicine in Washington, DC.  She completed her Chaplaincy Internship at Sibley Memorial Hospital/Johns Hopkins Medicine during the summer of 2011.  Upon completing her MDiv degree in 2012, she trained as a Resident Chaplain at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (Washington, DC).  From Resident Chaplain, she went on to join the staff at Sibley Memorial Hospital/ Johns Hopkins Medicine (2013).  Two years later, she also joined the team at Vitas Healthcare, a Hospice agency.  In 2016, Vitas Health Care awarded Chaplain White the Vitas BEST recognition for Patient Care.   She feels passionate about end of life spiritual care and spiritual care for Behavioral Health patients. Chaplain White believes in the importance of life long learning and evolving as a chaplain, thus she participates in chaplaincy training opportunities, the APC webinar series, and reads articles and white papers focused on research in the field of spiritual care.
At some point between serving as an Resident Chaplain and a Staff Chaplain, she became a Certified Spinning Instructor, thus she passionately teaches cycling.  Chaplain White’s clinical training taught her the importance of intentional self-care, thus she continues a ritual she began during her training, spending Sunday evenings with her older sister Bridgette. You may find Chaplain White catching a movie at the theater, attending a concert, watching a play; participating in one of the following classes: cycling, boxing, boot camp, Zumba, or running a marathon. Chaplain White believes that life is all about balance:  work & play no matter one’s age!
How It Works
To participate, all that is needed is a computer with Internet access and speakers, as the presentation audio and visuals are "webcast." Our webinars are priced per computer terminal, not per participant. That means you can invite as many colleagues to join you as can fit in your conference room or cluster around your computer. As a participant, you will be able to interact with the presenters, who will ask questions of the audience and answer questions posed by participants.
System Requirements
• As a best practice, we highly recommend an Ethernet connected computer for best connectivity and listening experience. You may experience some buffering of audio on lower bandwidth wireless connections.
• Internet Browsers:  Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or later, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Windows Edge browser.
• Stable Internet Connection, DSL or above:  100kbps for video transmission, 300kbps for screen sharing and remote control, 500kbps to ensure fluidity of all services.
• Operating System: Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Mac OS X v10.4 or higher, Linux, Solaris.
• Adobe Flash Player 13.0 or newer:
• Computer Speakers
The link below will test your system to make sure you are running the most recent version of Adobe Flash Player and to make sure it is not being blocked by your network.
The "Connectivity" line should have a green check mark. If it does not please contact your network administrator to allow TelSpanWeb access to port RTMPE 1935. This will allow your Adobe Flash Player to run properly through TelSpanWeb. "Application Sharing" applies only to presenters, so if you see a red "X," that's OK.
If you have any further questions or concerns, or if you do not have computer speakers, please contact APC at for assistance.
You will receive an e-mail confirmation upon completion of the online registration and payment process. Instructions for logging into the webinar will be e-mailed to all participants two business days before the event.
Cancellation Policy
The registration fee (minus a $20 nonrefundable processing charge) will be refunded up to five (5) business days of the scheduled event. APC® reserves the right to cancel the program within five (5) business days of the scheduled event, if an insufficient number of people register.
